The Final Push to Your Ideal Morning.

Akesola Air — a Portable Air Wake-Up Device

What is Akesola Air?

It's the world's first palm-sized wake-up device, powered by air. At the time you set in the smartphone app, it pumps air into an air cushion placed under your bedding, gently lifting your body to support waking up physically.

Air-powered wake-up devices themselves have existed for over half a century, and their powerful wake-up performance has made them especially popular among railway workers. Even the consumer models, however, were large and expensive, putting them out of reach for most people. Akesola Air was born from a wish to make this kind of air-powered wake-up device affordable for everyone and usable anytime, anywhere.

The last-one-mile problem of waking up

You're sure you woke up once to your alarm, yet before you know it you're back in a dream. Almost everyone has had this experience at least once. We'd like to call this the "last-one-mile problem of waking up." There's a surprisingly large gap between waking up and actually getting your body up. With alarms based on sound, vibration, or light, the final step of getting your body up and standing is left to sheer willpower.

An air-powered wake-up device physically lifts your body to change your blood flow, offering a comfortable wake-up experience that carries you more smoothly across the gap between waking and getting up. And because it makes no loud noise, you can wake quietly without disturbing the people you live with.

Who it's for

  • People who long to become a morning person and devour books about it, but keep giving up.

  • People who absolutely cannot oversleep before something important the next morning.

  • People who want the ideal morning that lets them perform at peak productivity all day.

  • People who want to wake up quietly without disturbing the sleep of those they live with.

Development story

Behind the development of Akesola Air lies a bitter memory of the creator’s own. The day before a flight, despite setting several alarms before going to sleep, he unconsciously turned every one of them off and woke up just an hour and a half before departure. With a taxi as his last hope, he arrived one minute before the gate closed and somehow made it in time — but the lesson came at a steep price: an expensive taxi fare.”

This experience sparked a search for an alarm that could guarantee waking up. After researching every kind of alarm, he purchased a certain air-powered wake-up device, renowned as one of the strongest alarms and trusted by railway staff. It lived up to its reputation, and he was deeply impressed by how reliably it woke him. Believing that this technology, something Japan can truly be proud of, deserved to be known around the world, he set out to bring it overseas. However, he soon ran into major obstacles: a high unit price, heavy weight, and differences in power standards.

So he began to wonder: could a similar air-powered wake-up device be built—one that was small, lightweight, powered by a common AC adapter, and yet delivered the same wake-up performance? But achieving enough power to lift the body while keeping the system compact, energy-efficient, low-cost, and quiet proved to be a far greater challenge than he had imagined. After experimenting with many different operating principles, comparing them in practice, and building countless prototypes, he finally succeeded in creating a system with the ideal balance.

Vision

The Akesola Ecosystem, pursuing the ideal morning from every angle

An ideal morning is the foundation of an ideal life. Akesola is not merely an "alarm" — we plan to grow it into an ecosystem of services built around the theme of the "ideal morning," useful from many angles. Stay tuned.
